One and Two-Word Sentence Completion Exercises

 
There are two types of sentence completion exercises.  The first type involves choosing one word that best completes the sentence.  You must know the definition in order to choose the word.  The second type involves choosing two words that best fits the sentence.

 

1.     The <blank> athlete amazed the fans.

stellar

resilient

gracious

belligerent


2.     The diligent student finished his work <blank> .

adulation

prodigiously

expeditiously

daunt


3.     The discussion became <blank> when John started yelling.

proficient

integrity

vanquish

acrimonious

 

Two-word fill-ins are much more challenging.  Sentence completion exercises are most often accompanied with a biography or story which helps you to understand how selected words are used in context.
